Transgressing (2023)
Directed by Alessandro Repetti
First-year ecology student Sonia is the eldest of three sisters, living in a run down one-bedroom flat with their parents. She finds out about rejection of her maintenance student loan, due to a system error: this seriously fuels the family financial pressure. Sonia wants to resolve this money issue without her tired and frustrated step mum knowing, by working harder at the café and trying to sell the only memory of her late mother: a gold necklace. But it is not enough. As the pressure increases, a supportive university lecturer offers Sonia some desperately needed help.
